Students attending University of Kyrenia Faculty of Dentistry in the 2021-2022 and 2020-2021 academic years wore their white coats with a ceremony.

The White Coat Ceremony that held in the Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu Republic Hall was attended by University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak, Secretary General, deans, institute directors, vocational school directors, faculty members, students and their families.

During the White Coat Ceremony 115 students recited their oath altogether under the leadership of Dean of Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Serap Çetiner. .
At the ceremony where the future dentists wore their white coats for the first time, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu and Dean of Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Serap Çetiner gave speech.

Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu: “Our Faculty of Dentistry is constantly raising the bar on quality.”
University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu started his speech by congratulating the students who joined the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Dentistry because of their great effort.

Expressing that the University of Kyrenia has become one of the remarkable educational institutions in the region in a short time period with its constantly developing infrastructure and superstructure, Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu emphasized the importance they attach to education and research.

Stating that the University of Kyrenia kept on growing during the COVID-19 period by adding the Faculty of Health Sciences new building and the Grand Library to its structure Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu expressed his gratitude by pointing out the importance of the continuous support of the Günsel Family to the University of Kyrenia.

University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. Ilkay Salihoğlu stated that the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Dentistry constantly raises the bar on quality with its competent academic staff, laboratories with advanced infrastructure, and aims for the best, and stated that the White Coat Ceremony was held specially on the 22nd of November, Dentistry Day.

Dean of University of Kyrenia Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Serap Çetiner, on the other hand, expressed her gratitude to the Günsel family, who founded the Near East University which is the most powerful university in the TRNC, and provided the University of Kyrenia to the world with its contemporary education approach.

Prof. Dr. Çetiner said that the students reached this point after a difficult exam process and emphasized that the ceremony held on 22 November Dentistry Day has a special importance for them.

Prof. Dr. Serap Çetiner stated that dentistry is a very special profession that combines art and science, and emphasized that the white color is a symbol of cleanliness and purity, and referred to the “First, do no harm” principle of health sciences.

Prof. Dr. Çetiner stated that the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Dentistry, which was established in 2017, continues to provide world-class education by constantly improving all its facilities from academic staff to laboratories and by expanding the scope of the training hospital.

Noting that they aim to train physicians who have adopted Atatürk’s principles and are committed to universal values, Prof. Dr. Serap Çetiner concluded her speech by saying that they will provide the students with the necessary support during the intense learning process.
